An Afternoon in the Country

Anderson Creek Retreat and Cantaberry Restaurant would like you to come spend an afternoon in the country on November 6, 2010 for their fall festival. Set in the mountains of North Georgia, Anderson Creek Retreat is a beautiful setting to spend an afternoon and evening enjoying the activities and a special meal provided by Cantaberry Restaurant. There will be hikes, children’s games and activities from 3 PM to 5 PM. The band The New Familiars from Charlotte, North Carolina will provide the evening’s musical entertainment from 5 PM to 8 PM.

There is no admission for this event but a $25 tax deductible donation will go to benefit Gilmer Arts and Heritage and the Mountain Conservation Trust. Halloween in the Park

HalloweenGet decked out in your favorite Halloween costume and come on down to Harrison Park on October 30, 2010 for an evening of Halloween fun! The festivities begin at 4 PM and end at 10 PM. There will be games, pumpkin carving, trick or treating and more. Prepare to be judged in the costume contest and make sure to bring your picnic basket and a blanket so you can relax and enjoy a spooky movie called Monster House. Wildlife Sanctuary – Pepsi Refresh Project

Sharon Bearden needs your help to build an animal clinic including nursery at the Wildlife Sanctuary.

In 2010, the Pepsi Refresh Project will give away more than $20 million to refresh the world, one idea at a time. Each month, Pepsi will award up to $1.3 million in grants to the ideas with the most votes. This was just one of the 1,000 new ideas accepted for voting throughout the month of October.

Voters have the ability to award a $250,000 grant to the Wildlife Sanctuary. Voting will take place on-line at
