U-Pick at R and A Orchards

Take a wagon tour of R & A Orchards in Ellijay, Georgia in the month of September, 2011. While there, have fun picking your own apples. There will be many different kinds of apples to choose from. If you would rather purchase apples already picked, visit their roadside market. Not only can you get fresh apples but you can pick up some tasty apple butter, jams, jellies and cider.
Wagon tours will be going on 10 AM to 5 PM every weekend in September. The market is open 9 AM to 6 PM seven days a week. For more information, call 706-273-3821.

Three Rivers Music Jam

Join the party in downtown Ellijay, Georgia on September 3, 2011 with the Three Rivers Music Jam. It will be a great evening of live music, food and fun. Listen to the live music of the Mike Watson Band, a band noted for their blues music but offer a variety of music from original songs to covers of Merle Haggard, Lynyrd Skynard, and BB King just to name a few.
The Three Rivers Music Jam will be happening from 6 PM to 10 PM in the City Parking Lot on River Street. Admission is free.

Town Hall Meeting

Georgia Senators Johnny Isakson and Saxby Chambliss will be having a town hall meeting in the gym at the North Georgia Christian Academy in Ellijay, Georgia on August 20, 2011 at 10 AM. They will give brief updates on things going on in Congress and spend the remainder of the time answering questions from citizens. This event is open to the public and all are encouraged to attend.

Apple Festival 5K Race

Visit Ellijay, Georgia the weekend of October 8 and 9, 2011 to take part in the festivities. Start the day on Saturday, October 8 with the 35th annual Apple Festival 5K Road Race and Fun Run/Walk. The 5K race will begin at 8 AM, the 1 mile run will begin at 8:45 AM at the Ellijay Elementary School on North Main Street in Ellijay.
Registration for the races are $15 each. The closing date for registration is Wednesday, October 5, 2011. For more information about the races call 706-636-3399.
Stop by the Civic Center on Main Street to check out all the antique cars at the Antique Car Show. Don’t forget to add the Georgia Apple Festival at the Ellijay Lions Club in your plans. The Apple Festival will be jam packed with arts and crafts and food vendors. You can find just about anything you want that is apple related not to mention plenty of other goodies. The Apple Festival will be going on October 8, 9, 15, and 16, 2011.

CC Morgan in Concert

CC Morgan will be performing in Ellijay, Georgia on August 5, 2011 from 7 PM to 10 PM as part of the Ellijay Under the Stars Concert Series. The concert will be held at the Ellijay Marketplace (old Plymart building).
CC Morgan is a Southern Rock/Country band from North Georgia whose influences include Merle Haggard, Waylon Jennings, and Lynyrd Skynyrd just to name a few.
Bring your own lawn chairs and tables and tickets are $5 per person at the gate or you can purchase a table for 8 for $60 or a table for 6 for $45. Food and beverages are allowed so pack your picnic basket full of your favorites and come on out for a great evening of music. There are only 100 tables available so reserve your space early. U-Pick Corn at the Red Apple Barn

July 29 and 30, 2011 is a U-Pick Corn weekend at the Red Apple Barn in Ellijay, Georgia. Come on out and get some tasty corn fresh out of the fields! Make sure to wear the proper attire of long pants, long sleeved shirts, and closed in shoes to go out in the fields. You may also want to bring along some bug spray to spray on yourself. 2011 4th of July Celebration

Visit downtown Ellijay, Georgia on the 4th of July, 2011 for a star spangled celebration. Enjoy the afternoon visiting the local stores as well as the craft and snack vendors that will be set up for the day. A parade will take place at 6 PM. A free concert will be offered at the Three Rivers Music Jam featuring the band Kharisma. Finish your celebration off right with the fireworks show happening after dark.
