There will be partying in the streets of downtown Ellijay, Georgia on Saturday, July 6, 2013. The festivities were originally scheduled for Thursday, July 4 but have been postponed to Saturday, July 6. Come on down to see the “Star Spangled Beach Party” parade that will start at 6 PM. Music and fun will begin afterwards. There will be live music, food and other vendors, and fireworks at dark.

It’s fall and with the fall comes the Georgia Apple Festival and the Apple Arts on the Square. For two weekends in October, you can come to Ellijay, Georgia in the beautiful North Georgia mountains and get your fill of everything apple. The festival kicks off on October 13, 2012 at the Ellijay Lions Club. An antique car show will be held on Saturday, October 13 at the Gilmer County Civic Center which is just down the road from the Lions Club. Also happening on Saturday is the Apple Festival Road Race. You won’t want to miss all the great art that will be available on the square in downtown Ellijay. Apple houses around the area will all be open with fresh apples and pumpkins, not to mention lots of other tasty goodies! The following weekend is started with a parade on Saturday, October 20 at 10 AM.
The festival dates are October 13, 14, and 20, 21, 2012. It will be open from 9 AM to 6 PM on Saturday, 9 AM to 5 PM on Sunday. Admission is $5 for adults, children under 10 are free. Summertime in Ellijay, Georgia means the Gilmer County Fair is coming soon. The 2012 fair will be here at the Ellijay Lions Club from August 7 – 11. There are 3 different divisions for exhibits – Elementary, Youth, and Adult with categories in Agriculture, Crafts, Food, Canning, Baking, Sewing, Needlework, Art, Photography, and Quilting and 10 different categories for the Elementary division. New this year is a Flowers category for all age groups.The agriculture shows will be held on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, August 7, 8, and 9 and will feature poultry, sheep, lambs, and goats. Don’t miss visiting the back building for the local booths and petting the animals in the petting zoo.
The fair will be open 6 PM to 11 PM on Tuesday through Thursday and 6 PM to 12 PM on Friday and Saturday. Admission is $3 for adults, $2 for students, and children under 6 are Free. You can purchase an armband for $20 that is good for all of the rides. Georgia ForestWatch in Ellijay, Georgia is hosting the Wild and Woolly Art, Nature, and Music Festival on May 5, 2012 from 10 AM to 6 PM. This enjoyable day will take place at the North Georgia Community Center in Ellijay.
There will be artists, crafters, and photographers selling their artwork, a native plant sale, storytellers for kids and adults, musical groups, a birds of prey presentation. wine tasting, and so much more.
Listen to rock, pop, jazz, blues, and bluegrass music throughout the day with Bill Pound, Marlin Brackett and his Hillbilly Bruzers, and the Dill Pickle Trio. Enjoy a birds of prey presentation by Monteen McCord of Hawk Talk. Meet Charlie Seabrook as he signs and discusses his new book, “World of the Salt Marsh”. Have a taste of wine being presented by Cartecay Vineyards. Get some tickets for the many raffles being held during the day. Bring the kids by for a couple of stories and some crafts. And make sure to stop by the education table and learn what Georgia ForestWatch is all about. There will be so much going on, it is sure to be a day full of fun and interesting things.

The 1st Georgia Great Outdoors Festival is coming to Ellijay, Georgia on April 28 and 29, 2012. Outdoor recreations such as hiking, biking, boating, rafting, fishing and hunting are such popular things to do in Ellijay and North Georgia, it makes sense to have a festival dedicated to these activities. Visit Ellijay, Georgia the weekend of October 8 and 9, 2011 to take part in the festivities. Start the day on Saturday, October 8 with the 35th annual Apple Festival 5K Road Race and Fun Run/Walk. The 5K race will begin at 8 AM, the 1 mile run will begin at 8:45 AM at the Ellijay Elementary School on North Main Street in Ellijay.
Registration for the races are $15 each. The closing date for registration is Wednesday, October 5, 2011. For more information about the races call 706-636-3399.
Stop by the Civic Center on Main Street to check out all the antique cars at the Antique Car Show. Don’t forget to add the Georgia Apple Festival at the Ellijay Lions Club in your plans.
