Valentine’s Dinner and Wine Tasting

Happy Valentines' DayGilmer Arts and Heritage (GAHA) in Ellijay, Georgia will be hosting a Valentine’s Dinner and Wine Tasting on February 10, 2012 beginning at 6:30 PM. Enjoy a delicious meal of beef tenderloin, field greens salad, baked potato, bread, and chocolate covered strawberries for dessert. The wines being sampled will be a variety of national and European wines.

Apple Mountain Playhouse

The Apple Mountain Playhouse has opened their new facilities in Ellijay, Georgia. Their ribbon cutting was in December 2011. The next production at the Apple Mountain Playhouse is The Adventures of Peter Pan. This play will open on January 20, 2012 and run through February 4, 2012.

Opening night showtime, January 20,  is 7 PM. The play will be performed on Saturdays and Sundays at 3 PM through February 4. Showtimes and dates are subject to change.

Tickets are $8 per person, children under 3 are free with a paid admission. Face painting before each day time performance is included in the ticket price.

Coffeehouse and Art Reception

Gilmer Arts and Heritage (GAHA) in Ellijay, Georgia is hosting a Coffeehouse and Art Reception on January 13, 2011. The  art reception will begin at 6 PM featuring local artists Sheryl Holstein, a potter and Elly Hobgood, a watercolor artist whose works of art will be on display at the GAHA Gallery from January 13, 2012 through February 17, 2012. You can enjoy the music of the Americana Duo, The Buzzard Mountain Boys beginning at 7 PM at the coffeehouse. There will be hot coffee and refreshments available.

Light Up Ellijay 2011

Christmas 2011The lights will be brighter than ever this year at Light Up Ellijay, in Ellijay, Georgia, set for Friday, November 25, 2011 on the square. The annual parade will return with lighted floats beginning at 6 p.m. The lights of the tree and downtown stores will be synchronized to start the holiday about 6:30. Parade floats and other entries will follow the theme, “Christmas at the Movies.” Look for strolling carolers, children’s activities, store open houses, in-store events, snack and craft vendors, the annual scavenger hunt, Santa and Mrs. Claus, photos with Santa, roasted marshmallows, hot dogs, and fun offerings like cookie decorating.

Halloween 2011

Jack O'LanternHead to the downtown square in Ellijay, Georgia for tricks and treats on October 31, 2011. Downtown merchants will be handing out candy and some will be hosting some fun activities. This year, individuals will be handing out treats as part of a “trunk or treat” along Main Street. There will be face painting as well as costume contests for children, adults, and even pets! The First Baptist Church will be holding their annual Fall Festival so stop by for some fun and games.

The festivities will begin at 5 PM. Have a safe and Happy Halloween!

Smoke on the Mountain

Come on out to Gilmer Arts and Heritage Association (GAHA) in Ellijay, Georgia to laugh, sing, and enjoy Smoke on the Mountain presented by the North Georgia Acting Company on November 3, 4, and 5, 2011. It is being produced and directed by Ross Galbreath with musical direction by Thelma (Bay) Cagle.

GAHA Charity Golf Tournament

GolferThe Gilmer Arts and Heritage Association (GAHA)  is hosting their first Charity Golf Tournament at Whitepath Golf Club in Ellijay, Georgia on October 7, 2011 from 9 AM to 4 PM. Cash and other valuable prizes will be awarded for Low Gross Team, Low Net Team, Longest Drive, and Closest to the Pin.

There is a $100 fee per person or $400 fee for a 4 man team. This includes the green fees, carts, range balls, and lunch.
